What’s “Kamishibai”?
“Kamishibai” is a theatrical art form in which multiple pictures are stacked in a set for each story, and the performer tells the story while showing the pictures one by one.It is considered to be the number of Kamishibaitellers began to increase around 1924.
The prototype of this “Kamishibai” is said to be the “Utsushi-e” of the Edo period.The “Utsushi-e” was a horizontal projection screen on which pictures were projected by candlelight, which was transformed into the “Tachi-e” paper puppet theater, and by the beginning of the Showa era (1926-1989), it had developed into “Kamishibai” style of picture storytelling that we see today.
It is for children, the Japanese is easy to understand and the content can be understood just by looking at the pictures! You can enjoy the atmosphere of old Japanese culture.
What’s “Min-bu”?
“Min-bu” is a dance with a rich regional flavor that has been passed down through the ages in various regions of Japan, and is danced to the accompaniment of “Min-yo”(Traditional regional songs).
It is a culture that is rooted in the local area and region.It is a song and dance created by the working people to express their daily life and the joys and hardships of their labor.
This time, you will be able to perform in “Shimane Prefecture”.
13:00〜 Let’s learn Japanese culture with “Sugoroku”!
“Sugoroku” is a game that is said to have originated in the Edo period. Two players sit facing each other across a board, roll the dice, and advance their pieces as many times as the dice roll, winning when all the pieces are placed in the opponent’s camp as quickly as possible.
This time, we will use the entire hall and proceed with 4-5 people. Those who answer all the questions correctly will get a treat…?
14:00〜 “Daidogei”(Japanese-style street performance)!
“Daidogei” is a generic term for a variety of performing arts that originated in the Nara era (710-794). You will never get tired of watching these performances! Why don’t you enjoy Japanese-style street performance?
15:00〜 Beginners OK! Soccer Bowling!
This is an arranged game of bowling where instead of throwing with your hands, you kick with your feet to knock down the pins.Why don’t you try this soccer game, which can be enjoyed by beginners from 6 years old and up?

“Bon Odori “ is a sacred event to welcome, offer, and send off the spirits of ancestors during the Bon Festival.“Bon Odori “ is said to have originated in the mid-Heian era, when people sang, danced, and chanted Buddhist prayers to spread Buddhism.It is also said to have originated in the Buddhist “Nenbutsu Dance”.
It is really a summer event, but why don’t you warm up your mind and body in a circle with everyone during the cooler fall season?
